Jennifer,
LOVE IT! Is that your daughter Jenna with you - she's lovely?! Is this painting one of the ones for the restaurant? Just wanted to let you know that a friend of mine offered to buy your
paintings from me at first sight (not an artist, just an art-appreciator, like myself, and she's not nearly as horse-crazy as I am). She offered me $2,000.00 for
Seattle Slew, and $2,500.00 each for
Secretariat and
A. P. Indy! Naturally, I refused. Your paintings will remain with me as long as I am alive. She also wanted "Harmony
Horses #2," (just based on the print) but that was never an option - a gift is a gift. And I never rescind on my decisions, whether calculated or impulsive. You painted it for Ashley, and she is going to be over the moon when she sees it - can't wait! (I hope you don't raise your prices on me for telling you this - I'll go bankrupt!)
Also, when I got the paintings insured, the agent said that Indy belonged in a museum. Actually, ahe said they all did, but he stood out to her the most. I definitely agree. I LOVE my Secretariat (and I really think I'm going to need one of those puzzles-fascinating!), Slew is amazing, but Indy is absolutely brilliant. The colours, the subtle nuances, the perfect blend of realism and impressionism. Secretariat is about the horse (as well it should be!), but Indy is the entire painting. Although he is the focus, the painting flows out from his energy, and you just don't know where to look next. It's not simply a racehorse painting, it is an exceptional work of art. YOU ARE TRULY A (NEW) MASTER!
I really admire your integrity and your commitment to excellence, to creating the perfect painting (and thank goodness you aren't afraid to tell me when to back off, and let you do your thing!) I am also very moved by how each of your paintings carries a little bit of your soul within it. I can feel it everytime I look at one, and it makes it that much more special.
Now...I have to rehang everything - again - because I feel, I know, that I am going to have need of a large abstract from you (and I still have three paintings, a triptych, and a
bas-relief leaning against the wall in another room). Okay, I admit it: I'm addicted. At least it is to beauty (and the majesty of the equine in particular), and you capture those images so well that it continues to amaze me every single day.
So...get out of the way and let us all enjoy your newest painting! Talk to you soon.
Hugs,
Kelly
